The Peregrine falcon is the biggest bird of prey in Ireland. It nests in coastal and mountain areas and also in large buildings. Sometimes it uses abandoned nests.It has blue-grey wings and back and lighter underparts. Its prey is small birds including pigeons. It rams its prey when swooping. Its prey is killed instantly.A Peregrine falcon can fly at speeds up to one hundred kilometers per hour and swoop down at speeds up to three hundred kilometers per hour. By Niall Carlyle
