| Some of the milled peat produced was used
in the manufacture of Peat Briquettes. Milled peat has moisture
content of 50%. In the factory, which we can see from our school playground,
it was dried to 10%. It was very heavily pressed into the briquettes we
are all familiar with. It takes two and a half tonnes of peat to make
one tonne of briquettes. The dried milled peat was compressed into briquettes
at a pressure of 5 tons per square inch. The Briquette Factory is now closed and is not producing briquettes anymore. By; Jane Scally. |
