Killeshil

Killeshil comes from the Irish Coill Iseal which means the Low Wood. It is close to Killaderry which was a famous church destroyed during the Plantation of Offaly in the 1540's and 1550's. The stones from the church were used to build Fort Governor in Daingean, then called Philipstown.
There are 200 acres in Killeshil. It is North West of the Grand Canal. The Killeshil River is really a small stream which flows to the canal.
Killeshil has a growing industry called Killeshil Precast Concrete Ltd. There are 85 people working in Killeshill. It is a supplier of all types of concrete products not only all over Ireland but to places as far away as the Channel Islands.There were 33 people in Killeshill in 2001. Now there are 37 people living in Killeshill.There are 10 houses in Killeshill.
