The Jackdaw
Cág ;       Jackdaw ;       Corvus Monedula ;

Jackdaws are the smallest members of the crow family. The jackdaws are mostly black in colour however the back of the head and neck are grey. Jackdaws are very common in Ireland and are seen in fields and hunt with the rook. Jackdaws have a short bill so they not dig as far down as they would like. They eat insects and worms but besides that they will eat all kinds of scraps and are sometimes heard in the morning around rubbish tips. They like to nest in chimneys. They have one brood a year. Jackdaws are very intelligent birds and have a recognised leader of the flock. Jackdaws are great collecters. Some say they are robbers. The length of the jackdaw is 33cm.
