Coole


Coole gets its name from the back of the hill. During the Penal Laws there was a hedge school in Coole where Johnny Flynns field is now. The teacher's name was Doorly. The Famine which came after the Penal Laws had a disastrous effect on Coole and the places around it.

In the 1940s and 50s there was a Maypole which was a dance held in May.It was held in Margeret Caseys field.Today the population of Coole is 33.
