Bunsallagh
Bunsallagh when changed to Irish is Bun Saileach and that means Sally Bottoms.It could have got it's name from the boggy land in the area. In the 1850's the Earl of Charleville owned most of the land there.Some people who lived there at that time were, Matthew Flynn,Matthew Rigney,Edward Connors,John Flynn, Daniel Quinn,Francis Broge,Christopher Braddy and James Lynch.The surnames Flynn, Rigney, and Lynch are still in the area.   The area of Bunsallagh is 946 acres. In 1841 there were 10 houses there and the population was 71.By 1851 the population was 54 and there were 8 houses.At present there are 20 houses in Bunsallagh and the total population is 62
